Consultation has concluded

Louisville’s Old Town is a historic residential neighborhood surrounding Downtown with diverse architecture and unique appeal. The City is kicking off a project that may lead to updates to the Old Town zoning regulations through evaluation and analysis of the neighborhood and we want to hear from everyone!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Community Character Survey, which is now closed. On October 7th, there was a presentation given about the results of the survey and its diagnostic report. That presentation was recorded and is available in the link embedded in this sentence. The presentation for the diagnostic report was also presented again at the October 18th Historic Preservation Commission meeting. That meeting was recorded and is uploaded onto the City's YouTube page, available at the link embedded in this sentence.

To hear the results of the survey and the diagnostic report of the Old Town neighborhood again, plan on attending an online Zoom presentation at the December 21st City Council Meeting. The Zoom links to attend that meeting will be posted on the City's Calendar. The draft Diagnostic Report is also available in full, uploaded to the "Helpful Documents" section of this webpage.

Stayed tuned to this page for future phases of this project so you can continue to stay involved as any updates to the Old Town zoning regulations are developed!

Submission Page

Welcome to the submission page! Please only upload one photo at a time.

Name your story as the address or location of the photo you want to share.  Write a few words about why you picked this.  Finally, click the "insert photo" button to attach it and click "Create".  Please also take our survey linked here so we can learn a little more about you and your relation to Louisville's Old Town.

Tell us (a) why you took the photo and (b) what do you want us to see. Keep the THREE QUESTIONS of character, values, and context in mind when answering.

  1. Old town is a unique neighborhood within Louisville with many positive features that form its unique character. Could you give us some examples of these positive features?
  2. The Comprehensive Plan references the “livable small town” character of Louisville together with values such as diversity, walkability, and family-friendliness. In your opinion which block face or street of Old Town best represents this?
  3. Where do you see a compatible new building or an addition to an older building that positively contributes to its context?

Thank you for participating in our Community Character Survey! If you have another photo you would like to submit, click to go back and submit again.
