Marshall Fire 5 Year Remembrance Community Survey

On December 30, 2021, the Marshall Fire swept through the City of Louisville, the Town of Superior, and unincorporated Boulder County, destroying and damaging more than 1,000 homes and over 30 commercial structures. December 2026 will mark the five‑year anniversary of this disaster, which had a profound and lasting impact on our region.

To support community healing and reflection, the City of Louisville has allocated $35,000 toward a Remembrance Project and related programming for the anniversary year. We want this project—and any investments we make on behalf of the community— to reflect the values and desires of Louisville residents. This survey will help guide the initial planning phase.

At the same time, the Town of Superior is developing an outdoor gathering and remembrance space designed to honor the shared experience of the Marshall Fire and to symbolize recovery and renewal. Louisville has been invited to consider participating in this regional project. Council has expressed support for including a survey prompt about this potential partnership so the Louisville community can help guide the decision.

Through this survey, we hope to understand your preferences regarding both Louisville‑based remembrance options and the possibility of directing some or all of our dedicated funds toward Superior’s project. Your responses will help us shape an approach that best serves the community’s needs for remembrance, healing, and connection.
