Park Shelter

The City of Louisville is replacing the playground equipment at Cottonwood Park and is asking for public input on which concept and what equipment is preferred. Please take this short survey to provide your feedback.

The theme of the playground is "Nature Play" and there are three design elements to choose from:

  1. "Traditional Nature Play" by Playworld. Traditional post and platform design. This design provides the most equipment in the space within the budget.
  2. "Whimsical Nature Play" by Berliner. A fun twist on the traditional post and platform design that combines wood, rope, and steel. Eco-friendly playground equipment made from wood. This design provides less equipment in the space within the budget.
  3. "Natural Wood Nature Play" by Earthscape. Eco-friendly playground equipment made from wood. This design provides the least amount of equipment in the space within the budget.

The survey will close on October 23, 2021.

The City maintains 14 playgrounds, many of which were built 20-25 years ago. In 2017, the City began the process of renovating playgrounds to bring equipment up to date and meet current ADA standards. The first playground to be installed was at Heritage Park in 2018, followed by Keith Helart and Elephant Park in 2020. Cottonwood Park is the fourth play structure to be replaced and is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2022. Over the next several years, with City Council approval and budget availability, the City plans to continue replacing play structures around Louisville.
