Project Summary and Goals:In Fall 2023, the City of Louisville engaged a team of planning and design consultants to create a downtown vision plan for the City. The intent of the project is to provide a vision for downtown revitalization and related concept-level designs for the plan that will focus on Main Street, Front Street, Steinbaugh Pavilion, and areas around the South Street Underpass. The goal is to enhance public spaces such as plazas, patios, streets, landscaping, public art, and street amenities. Additionally, we aim to bolster wayfinding by developing a unique downtown district identity through signage and enhancing transit and mobility for the safety and convenience of everyone who visits our downtown area.The design efforts to visualize the future of downtown Louisville are nearly complete, and we look forward to carrying out the community&#39;s vision.Below is the recap of the engagement efforts. These statements will act as the foundation for the Comprehensive Plan&#39;s policies. <a href="https://www.engagelouisvilleco.org/21371/widgets/78350/documents/59644" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">View the one page summary of these statements.</a>The City of Louisville is embarking on an update to its Comprehensive Plan, one of the City&rsquo;s most important policy documents. The last update was in 2013, and a lot has changed since then! The Comprehensive Plan update is an opportunity for the community &ndash; including residents, business owners, workers, elected and appointed officials, and City staff &ndash; to take stock of where we are and where we want to be, and to refresh the City&rsquo;s overall vision, values, and policies. Once adopted by City Council, the final Comprehensive Plan will become a guiding document for future growth and development. Comprehensive plans are truly comprehensive &ndash; covering growth, community services, infrastructure, economic development, housing, transportation, natural resources, and historic and cultural resources.<hr>Stay Tuned and Get Involved! Louisville Comprehensive Plan Update

The City of Louisville is a vibrant city known for its exemplary quality of life, abundant open spaces, and beautiful neighborhoods. RESPEC Engineering will be working with the City of Louisville to develop a comprehensive Stormwater Drainage Plan (SWDP). The SWDP is an opportunity to assess stormwater needs, gather community feedback, prioritize areas of concern, and develop alternative solutions to sustain the inviting culture of the community. This plan will identify and address the existing and future flood and drainage issues within the City of Louisville. The purpose of the SWDP is to identify known problematic flood areas and storm drainage system issues and to prioritize and recommend future projects and programs. RESPEC will identify alternatives to improve the storm drainage system, potential capital improvement projects, and other options that can provide stormwater solutions like Green Infrastructure or Nature-based Solutions.<hr><h2 style="text-align: left;">Help Us Identify Areas of Concern</h2>RESPEC and City staff kicked off the SWDP this October 2024 and will be looking for input from the community starting in November 2024 through February 2024. Our team will work to keep the community informed about the project with through this website and future meetings, but we also want to hear from you. It is important to share your feedback to help us understand your areas of concern. RESPEC will use all information provided by the community to develop potential solutions and collaborate with the community to identify feasible solutions.
