Louisville Historical Museum Conceptual Plan

The Roybal firm hosted an open house in June to review the initial design alternatives and solicit input from the community. The community also had the opportunity to view the initial designs online after the meeting and to give input on the three design alternatives in June and July, including through making comments on this site.

The Roybal firm reviewed the public comments that were received and considered them in working on a revised design. The redesigned building would consist of two levels and a basement area for museum collection storage for a total of about 3,600 square feet (with a possible option to extend the basement further to gain more collection storage space). The firm presented its revised design at a second public meeting on October 2^nd.

The City recently hired the Roybal Corporation to prepare conceptual drawings of a new visitor center building at the Louisville Historical Museum based on the recommendations of the Museum Campus Master Plan and Needs Assessment. A new building could serve as a community facility to welcome visitors and teach students about Louisville’s history, meet accessibility requirements, and address existing space constraints.
